Brighton is a seaside suburb on Holdfast Bay, known for landmarks like the Brighton Jetty, Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club, the yacht club, and the historic Windsor Theatre, built in 1925.

The Brighton Post Office opened in 1849, with the original town hall following in 1869, the fourth built in South Australia. It served as the civic centre until 1936 and was replaced by a second hall in 1937. The original jetty, built in 1886, stood for over a century before being destroyed by storms in 1994 and rebuilt.

Boasting a relaxed atmosphere, the suburb offers Art Deco buildings, numerous cafes, locally made art and design shops, restaurants, and the Arch of Remembrance, which marks the shore end of the iconic Brighton Jetty, which juts out into the turquoise waters of the St Vincent Gulf. Brighton also features a beautiful beach that is great for swimming and walking.

Brighton plays host to several significant events occur throughout the year, including the Brighton Jetty Sculptures, Brighton Jetty Classic, Brighton Winter Solstice, the Marilyn Jetty Swim, and the Brighton Street Party. The suburb is also located on the Glenelg to Seacliff Coastal Walk, which includes the Brighton coastline.

Brighton was also home to Sir Douglas Mawson, renowned Antarctic explorer and geologist, who is buried at St Jude's Church cemetery in the suburb.
