Located to the west of Lake Burley Griffin and still in its development stages, Molonglo is part of one of the city's newest urban areas, Molonglo Valley, named after the river that flows through the suburb and also feeds the aforementioned lake. The Molonglo River catchment extends east to Captains Flat in New South Wales and south to the Tinderry Range. The river flows through the ACT joining the Murrumbidgee River near Uriarra Crossing to the northwest of Canberra. ¹ The street names, once the roads are established, will have an ornithology theme. ²
