This section also includes signs that may only be used in a specific state or territory but not nationally.

Guide signs are used to inform and advise road users of directions, distances, destinations, routes, non-regulatory traffic instructions, the location of services for road users, and points of interest. 1

Hazard markers are used to delineate a marked change in the direction of travel or to emphasise the presence of an obstruction. 1

Miscellaneous signs such as those used for funding schemes, road projects, road safety awareness and etc.

Regulatory signs are used to regulate the movement of traffic by indicating when or where a legal requirement applies, failure to comply with which constitutes an offence. For example, speed limits, prohibited or permitted movements at intersections and parking controls. 1

Warning Signs indicate unexpected or hazardous conditions on or adjacent to the road which may not be obvious to the approaching road user. 1
