General Information:

Located in the southwestern part of Western Australia, Tourist Drive 259 passes through tall timber country, forests full of karri, the worlds third tallest tree. Some of the trees in the area are over 300 years old and pierce the sky up to 85 metres above the ground. The route also takes in several streams, pools and rivers. 2

The route services residential, commercial and rural zones, several tourist attractions and passes through several national parks and other nature reserves as well as specialised timber growing areas. Part of the route through the Manjimup town centre was once an alignment of National Route 1.

Multiplexes along the route include:
National Route 1, for 7 km, between Manjimup and Middlesex.
State Route 10, for 30 km, between Pemberton and Northcliffe.

History:

1970s: National Route 1 routed along Ralston Street, Giblett Street and Ipsen Street, Manjimup. This was later changed from Ipsen Street to Pritchard Street. 3
