General Information:
Tourist Drive 8 services several rural towns in the New South Wales Southern Tablelands, passing through mostly sheep and cattle grazing country. The route is dotted with historic rural homesteads, houses, commercial buildings and more. The route passes the Capital Wind Farm as well as several art galleries, antique shops and is home to several well renown eateries as well.
Servicing residential, commercial, and rural zones, the route is generally undivided with 1 lane in each direction, except around the Goulburn area where part of the route is divided with mostly 1 lane in each direction.
History:
- February 2025: Road rehabilitation works Bungendore Road at Mount Fairy, near Taylors Creek Road. Works included bulk earthworks, vegetation clearing, drainage, rehabilitation of pavement, bitumen sealing and line marking. 2
- June 2025: Slope stabilisation and road rehabilitation works on Bungendore Road, near the Crisp Creek crossing. Work included slope regrading, drainage and erosion control, pavement reconstruction, and safety barrier upgrades. 3
- November 2025: At the corner of Macs Reef Road and Bungendore Road at Bywong, works commenced on upgrading the intersection, and included channelised right turn lane in Macs Reef Road, channelised left turn lane into Macs Reef Road, painted and concrete medians, upgraded drainage channels and street lighting. 4
