General Information:

The M8 is a motorway grade route that links Sydney's southern and western suburbs. It is a completely underground route, bypassing numerous roads and suburbs, some of which are notorious for traffic congestion.

The route is tolled via distance-based tolling, and requires users to either have a e-tag attached to their vehicle or to have a single-use account set up for billing. The tunnels are open for use by cars and heavy vehicles; such as trucks, buses and coaches.The route consists of twin tunnels with 2 to 4 lanes in each direction.

July 2020: The WestConnex M8 opened to traffic. ²
