General Information:

The Kings Highway is the main road from the ACT to the NSW south coast, travelling through Queanbeyan and several small NSW towns, connecting with the Princes Highway on the coast at Batemans Bay. It is one lane each way for the majority of its length with occasional overtaking lanes throughout. The route is mostly dual carriageway through Queanbeyan.

B52 is crosses the ACT border and returns to NSW after a few kilometres, northeast of Queanbeyan, before crossing back into the ACT west of Queanbeyan.

History:

1974: National Route 52 introduced. 2
May 1977: Canberra Av Railway Bridge constructed. 2
April 1982: The dual carriageway deviation was completed, between the railway overpass and Ross Road. This deviation also included the northern section of Lanyon Drive 2
2009: Completion of a series of improvements on the Kings Highway between Queanbeyan and the northeastern ACT border. This included intersection upgrades at Weetalabah Drive, The Ridgeway and Captains Flat Road, as well as the realignment of a section of the Kings Highway between Thurralilly Street and Regent Drive. 3
7 October 2010: The Kings Highway realignment at Queanbeyan was opened to traffic. 3
February 2011: Full completion of upgrade works on Kings Highway over Bungendore Hill at Queanbeyan. 3
2013: National Route 52 replaced by B52.
